Hari Singapore hires Andreas Kraemer as founding GM

The Hari Singapore announced the appointment of veteran hotelier Andreas Kraemer as its founding general manager, positioning the upcoming property as a fresh lifestyle destination in the city‑state.

Seasoned leader tapped to steer opening

Kraemer arrives with more than 30 years of international hospitality experience. His most recent role was a five‑year tenure as general manager of InterContinental Singapore, where he oversaw a strategic luxury repositioning and steady commercial growth.

Earlier in his career, he held senior posts across Singapore, China, Thailand, India and the Maldives, giving him a broad view of Asian market trends.

“Andreas has a remarkable track record,” said brand founder Dr. Aron Harilela. “His rich and diversified experience should propel our plans to bring a leading example of modern luxury and impeccable service to Singapore.”

Kraemer said the role is about more than adding another property to the skyline.

He explained that Singapore doesn’t need another hotel. The city deserves hotels with character. He noted the chance to create a place linked to Orchard Road and the heritage of Emerald Hill, a hotel that becomes part of the city, not simply part of its skyline.

Design, art and location shape the guest experience

The new hotel will open in spring 2027, offering 326 rooms just steps from Orchard Road and the historic Emerald Hill precinct. Its design‑led concept aims to blend contemporary aesthetics with the neighborhood’s cultural texture.

Art installations, curated dining venues and a focus on local design will sit at the core of the guest journey. The developers intend the venue to feel like a living part of the community, rather than a detached luxury enclave.

In comparison with other recent Singapore openings, this project emphasizes integration with existing streetscapes rather than creating an isolated tower. That approach mirrors a broader trend where operators seek to embed hospitality within the urban fabric, a shift observed in several Asian markets over the past decade.

Beyond the design focus, the brand plans to host rotating exhibitions and collaborate with local artists, reinforcing its commitment to cultural relevance.

The property marks the third addition to the brand, following hotels launched in London (2016) and Hong Kong (2020). The parent company, Harilela Group, has operated since 1959 and currently owns 15 properties across multiple continents.

With the Singapore opening, the group expands its portfolio in a market known for high tourism traffic and competitive luxury offerings. Executives anticipate that the hotel’s distinct character will attract both leisure travelers and business guests seeking a more personalized environment.
