The Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI) Northern Region celebrated its 75th anniversary through a dedicated event in New Delhi, bringing together key figures from the travel industry to honor its heritage and outline upcoming initiatives. This gathering also served as the official launch of the 69th TAAI Convention and Exhibition, scheduled for October 25–27, 2026 at the ITC Royal Bengal in Kolkata.
The convention’s central theme, “Kal, Aaj Aur Kal”—meaning “Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow”—positions the event as a link between TAAI’s long-standing legacy and the sector’s future direction. Founded in 1951, the association chose Kolkata as the venue to highlight the milestone’s importance across the nation.
Sunil Kumar R, the association’s president, described the New Delhi event as a success, with approximately 200 travel trade professionals in attendance. He observed particular enthusiasm for the upcoming convention, especially among delegates from New Delhi.
Kolkata’s role as the host city reinforces TAAI’s dedication to promoting India’s tourism capabilities. The three-day program will assemble travel agents, tourism stakeholders, and partners, reinforcing the association’s emphasis on collective effort. Kumar noted that the convention would serve two key purposes: recognizing TAAI’s historical contributions while tackling the industry’s shifting demands.
This anniversary event aligns with a growing pattern in industry conferences, where such milestones often prompt deeper strategic discussions. Previous conventions have leveraged milestone years to reset priorities, but TAAI’s seven-decade history gives this particular occasion added weight. The Kolkata edition aims to build on that tradition with a stronger regional emphasis.
